Abstract

The Motor Operated Valve (MOV) plays a critical role in supporting equipment operations within the boiler and turbine areas of the Pacitan Steam Power Plant. However, the current system lacks direct monitoring of MOV voltage and current through the Distributed Control System (DCS). This absence of real-time monitoring has led to delays in detecting power supply failures, such as the incident on November 22, 2024, where a malfunction in the MOV went unnoticed by the operator. This situation hindered both the investigation process and decision-making, ultimately resulting in production losses and voltage drops in the southern transmission network toward the Kediri substation. Therefore, it is necessary to implement a monitoring system for MOV feeders that provides real-time electrical data to the DCS. In addition, this system is intended to serve as an early warning mechanism for abnormal conditions, such as undervoltage or overcurrent, thereby enhancing the reliability of the MOV and the overall power plant operation.
