Photovoltaic (PV) systems have become one of the most promising renewable energy technologies in tropical regions such as Indonesia. The performance of photovoltaic systems is strongly influenced by installation parameters, particularly azimuth orientation and tilt angle. This study aims to determine the optimal azimuth and tilt angle configuration for a 1000 Wp rooftop photovoltaic system installed in Parangargo Village, Malang Regency. The research employed PVsyst software to simulate annual energy production under several azimuth and tilt angle configurations. Furthermore, the simulation results were validated using Global Solar Atlas data to evaluate the consistency of photovoltaic performance estimation. The results indicate that tilt angle optimization has a more significant influence on annual energy production than azimuth angle variation. The optimum configuration was obtained at an azimuth angle of −1° and a tilt angle of 7°, resulting in an annual energy production of 1370.64 kWh/year. Global Solar Atlas provided an azimuth angle of 0°, a tilt angle of 12°, and an estimated annual energy production of 1454 kWh/year. These findings provide practical guidance for optimizing rooftop photovoltaic system installation in tropical environments with similar geographical characteristics.
